Saw this on a list for a good price and decided to pull the trigger.

This definitely felt like a mature white burgundy: honey, butterscotch, granny smith apples, meyer lemons, white peaches, mangoes, classic Coche struck matches, white blossoms that flows into a mixture of white pepper spice, bruised apple, and a deep, deep minerality on the finish. With more air, deeper bruised and tropical fruits came out and the nose became more perfumed.

It felt like it had all the elements of a killer white burgundy but I think what stopped it from getting there was a slight lack of freshness — it felt like there was too much bruised fruits on the palate to my liking.

Thanks for the notes. Ullage and bottle condition do not look nice for a 2000. Perhaps better storage would have preserved some more freshness.

Last time I tried this it was a1996, one bottle was incredible with very ripe fruit. The second bottle was absolutely disgusting. Both from the same cellar and sand storage conditions.
