Just posting this in case it helps someone who is new(ish) to cooking. I’ve been cooking for many years (Gen X). We’ve received over 250 HF boxes. Though I’ve had the occasional too small veggie or one with a bad spot, I rarely have issues with any veggie going bad before I need it but often see posts here complaining about that issue. This pic is of green beans and potatoes that I cooked tonight after receiving them a full week ago. My tip is to be sure you store the vegetables properly. Store potatoes and onions in a dark cool place, not in the fridge! Store other vegetables in your crisper drawer in the fridge and be sure to remove them from the plastic bags they’re shipped in so they get air flow and moisture can’t build up and cause mold. I use the ziploc veggie bags often to keep veggies like green beans or asparagus (they can be washed and reused). Tomatoes are best stored at room temp, especially if you’re using them within a few days, but if they’re very ripe, they can be refrigerated to extend their life – (they may not taste quite as good refrigerated but if you’re cooking them in a dish, they’ll be fine). While it may not be as convenient to unpack the bags before refrigerating, it will definitely help your veggies last longer!
