Hi , I’m new to gardening and I’m growing my first tomato tree . My special 100 is growing well but I don’t realise that when the main stem split into two , I was meant to cut it off. Well that’s what someone said to me.. I’m looking for confirmation and help , should I still cut it or do I leave it . What’s best for my yield ?
Thanks for the help and time.

No dont cut it. When you cut the extra stems off you loose all the tomatoes it would have produced. Also its going to stop growing soon and your tomato production is going to be disappointing because that container is to small. Repot it in a 5 gallon bucket
Some people cut the suckers off and train the tomato to one or two leaders. This is the way that larger farms do it. It will get you larger but fewer tomatoes.
Others (like me!) just let them be their authentic selves and grow bushy. This way they still put out a ton of fruit and it’s less work.
If I were you, obviously given what I just said, I’d leave it be. But feel free to trim things off if it’s getting out of control and too big for your space.
Two stem tomatos is a valid way to grow them.
Look up Indeterminate vs Determinate tomatoes. For indeterminate (like super sweet 100) you can let them produce a lot of branches and each one produces tomatos.
