I see all the bbq studs getting love on here, let’s not forget about Rudy! Have always loved their sauce as well.

I am a fan of Rudy’s but this location is not company owned and sometimes the food quality doesn’t meet the high standards Rudy’s consistently delivers.

Rudy’s does not get enough love!! Give me that half chicken! And some beans. And some pudding. Please Austin, respect your local Rudy’s.

Having tried both locations, I will say the southwest Austin location does far better.

Rudy’s is great for when you just want that BBQ flavor in a pinch with and don’t want to go out of your way or wait a while.

I enjoy their chopped beef and turkey a lot, and their sides are good. Might pick some up tomorrow 😅

  5. In my experience Rudy’s is pretty consistent even though it’s not the best, plus it’s not too expensive. Also it was the first bbq I ate when I first came to Austin so I have nice memories.

  6. Does anyone else think their meats taste like propane or gasoline sometimes?

I wonder how Rudy’s stacks against HEB bbq.

I haven’t had Rudy’s in ages but for how convenient it is I love it and the breakfast tacos

It is what it is, and it’s not terrible and convenient sometimes.

Mmmm, 1/4 lb. brisket, creamed corn, cole slaw, and banana pudding from Rudy’s is my ultimate comfort meal without breaking the bank.

My favorite location is on 620 near 2222.

  10. The breakfast tacos are really the winner here. $23 for around 8 good sized tacos, I’ll take that.

  11. Going to agree with most comments on here. Rudy’s always comes in when needed. Their smoked turkey is awesome. Ribs are solid. Brisket, while not the best, still hold up.

  12. Run through a deli slicer! A quarter pound should not yield you 6 slices.

Still shocked they didn’t get a Michelin award.

Rudy’s is hard evidence that we’re spoiled as a region.

Rudy’s was quite disappointing compared to other options in the vicinity

I have never been happy with Rudy’s brisket. Ever. I’ve had it more than enough times, and I’m never willing to pay for it again. That photo doesn’t even show a smoke ring. Just to to Buc-Ee’s. Much better food.

Anyone else remember the “it’s the worst bbq in Texas” commercials with the actors chugging bottles of their sauce?

Also their breakfast is pretty solid as well

What the hell is that? Whoever sliced that brisket belongs in prison. That is 100% the worst brisket I’ve ever seen, that cow died in vain.

  19. Queasy_Car7489

Looks like Bill Miller brisket and there ain’t nothing wrong with that!

$12.50 seems high if there’s no other sides. Soda and chips are cheap items. Can probably knock $1.50 off the meal and say it’s $11 for the brisket. Thats $44/lb which is more than most places. Terry Blacks would be another quick in and theyre $36/lb.

Never been but if it’s middle of the road I don’t see the savings.

Rudy’s offers a spiral sliced glazed ham for the holidays that is excellent. I just ordered mine for the third year in a row.

  22. Too expensive for electric smoked meats. Simply not worth $46 a pound for meat you buy for $3.

That’s definitely closer to a third than a quarter, right? Curious if you remember the weight
