Saw this at Costco, seemed like pretty decent value to me and nice for tasting a variety of bdx. What do you all think?
Note those are all 375 mL bottles!

Even as someone not really into Bordeaux i would buy this good chance to try diffrent producers.

I would gladly accept this Christmas gift from you brother!! Jokes aside, this is a fairly good lineup. Even though they are in 375’s I would still lay them down for a bit – ‘21 vintage still building that Bordeaux tension 🙂 Which location is this?

My jaw dropped, but then I read that they’re 375mL. Even then I would definitely still get it!!

Dear Santa,
I’ve been nice this year

That’s a fun little nugget.

I’d find it worth it. Fun way to compare them. Cool to see the Carmes de Rieussec packaging.

It’s a good deal. I feel like Costco is buying up all the ‘21s super cheap. Every BDX I have seen there lately has been ‘21. I doubt most of their shoppers have any idea that it was a challenging year.

I’d buy this in a heartbeat. Ormes de Pez is absolutely phenomenal.

Good value, relatively speaking. However, 2021 was a pretty bad vintage of hail, rain, and cold that produced a very wide range of results. Some producers still succeeded but most didn’t. I tried a lot of the 2021’s including most of the wines shown above, and my general thoughts was most of the wines felt underripe. The Lynch-Bages was probably the best of the wines in this photo, but still it was much more subdued than the 2020 which was an absolutely monstrous wine.
FWIW, Chateau Pavie-Macquin made an absolute world class wine in 2021 despite the tough vintage.

I think a LOT of folks here missed that these are 375s. Still a decent deal but also consider that ’21 was a ROUGH vintage in Bordeaux (all of France really) and that they might not be as epic as you’d hope- still probably beautiful wines, I just don’t know if I’d call this the deal of the century – but not a bad buy at all

I’ll go against the grain here. I’ll pass. Bordeaux can be really good and I understand it has the heavy hitters plus some great stuff. But it’s just not for me. Complexity is great, but I prefer the lighter style reds. Give me Beauj, Loire, northern Italty, Sicily, some interesting natural wines from Spain, or some value eastern European at $30-40 for a whole bottle. I know Costco may not have all of that, but that’s what makes the hunt fun!

Where did you see this? Gotta check out my local Costco’s tomorrow morning
