I’m not buying this but is this even a good deal? I was shocked to see something so expensive at Costco.

It’s probably a small savings vs going rate when you total it all up, the part that’s a good deal is you can get all of those and not pay shipping. In most wine stores you’d be hard pressed to find any of those heavy hitters, much less all of them

Not a bad deal per se but all way too young for drinking. You’ll have to sit on these puppies for at least a decade, probably longer before they reach their full potential.

I got a total of $7,820 by pulling only winesearcher listings that already have the physical bottles. So not terrible honestly, at that price point $100 to make it a single purchase seems reasonable. Not a huge fan of how those bottles are stored for the price though.

Not a bad deal if you have the money to get the lineup all at once Main thing is to have the space and more importantly is the time to let those babies age.

You’re looking at a 20 year investment here. If you have the cash and time, it’s not a bad deal.

From Australia I would buy this at a heartbeat 🫢

To be fair an 8k line up isnt for people looking for a good deal. It’s for people who want to show off a name brand and 8k is a drop in the bucket for them. If you make/are worth millons yearly yeah it’s fine. If you make 100k and are buying them and it stretches you savings no it’s not a good deal. If you have to look at a 8k listing of wine and wonder if it’s a deal you are not the target demographic.

I’d rather have 80 bottles of $100 wines than 9 bottles worth $8000….

100%.
Would save me the time of getting them one by one.

if this was in canada i would snatch it up instantly

No, you can get 9 bottles of spoiled grape juice for under $100.

I am not a big fan of the 2021 vintage. I will say – those are baller wines, and no I have not taste those houses. I am still buying 2018, 19’s & 20’s which IMO are better vintages

This would make for a fucking crazy tasting night in 30 years

Even if it was… they are storing it upright, at room temp, under lights… eh.

You would think, if you are going to spend that much on wine, the discount for the collection would amount to more than what is probably $50-$100 is savings.

I’m in, it’s a good deal

Not really and not a good vintage

Love a duclot!! Yes it’s a reasonable deal.

If these are stored ideally, that’s maybe like $40,000 of value 20-25ish years from now? I want to say that’s lowballing it.

Compared to similar Costco posts with bottles of DRC this is a veritable bargain! Getting hold of these can need a bit of effort so all at once is worth the $ – if you can afford $7500 then a $500 convenience fee seems fine.
I saw a 2000 set for GB£20k a couple years ago. However 21 was not the vintage that 2000 was and is unlikely to become legendary in time so the prices won’t go down but may not rocket. All that said, you need to have the cash and much more importantly, a lot of patience, as drinking these before 2036 is a no, and the Sauternes? I like mine to be 40+.

I just drank a Petrus 2011. It was fantastic but massive. Needs a lot more time.
