I preheated my air fryer at 200°C, put the steak for 8 mins at 150°C then seared on iron cast for 2 min each side.
What do you think guys?

Air frying a steak is a sin
ohneatstuffthanks
I do mine pretty much the same way and they come out amazing. People on this sub believe it’s blasphemy however.

How big/thick was the piece of meat? I have to give this a go

Looks delicious. Who cares how it got there? Air fryers are delightful, time-saving tools that use less space and resources for the same result.

Ignore the haters. Did you enjoy the steak? If so, great job!

I’ve heard mixed reviews on using the air fryer for steak. One day my bbq wouldn’t light and I had the steaks all ready to go already. I threw them in the air fryer and was very surprised at how tasty and perfectly cooked they were. I will have no hesitation to use air fryer in the future they work great for steaks!

I don’t see people’s problem with an air fryer in this instance. You are just replacing the oven with it which is barely a replacement cuz the end result for reverse searing is the same .

I see an air fryer as essentially a convention oven in my opinion. Looks like it turned out great!

Wow definitely did not expect it to come out looking like that. Looks delicious 👏🏽

I think it looks amazing and will definitely try it this way! I have a ninja foodie and use it as a grill for steaks in the winter. They come out perfect but I’ve never done the reverse sear. Thanks for sharing.

I do mine the other way. I sear a one pound steak for five minutes and air fry for four
I too have used an air fryer followed by a sear and it comes out better than having a steak at a restaurant with a thick crust and pink in the middle the way I like it.
The air fryer helps me even to take a steak straight from the freezer let it defrost at the lowest setting for 30 mins and then use the sensor thermometer and cook it to the temperature I like before cooking in the pan.
Comes out perfect.

Can you please explain how long, what temp etc.

I use the air fryer as well. Next time give this a try. Take a table spoon of ranch dressing and whip in parm until you have a thick consistency. In the final minute spread that on the steak and put it back in the air fryer. You will not be disappointed. Parm crust that thing for the fucking win

Looks great. Did you wait for it to cool down before searing or just straight into the skillet from the air fryer?
Present_Confection83
That definitely works in a pinch

For decently marbled steaks, air fryer tastes better than sousvide + charcoal sear to me. Fat renders better.
Sekkushu
I do 12 mins each side on 250. Put in fridge for 30 mins and sear for 30-45 secs each side. Basically zero banding.
