So sometimes I’m drinking a rose, Pinot, or something similarly translucent, I like to put a candle behind it and see if I can get it to glow. I’ve always thought a glass of wine can look so pretty with the right illuminating, I totally understand why it was a common subject of painters for so many years.
I was once having some rose on my patio during a particularly beautiful red and orange sunset when the rays of light hit the glasses of wine at just the right angle and wavelength to light them up completely. At first I thought my girlfriend had lit some candles, it looked like liquid fire. I was never able to capture that moment on camera properly, but the glow was much brighter than in this picture.
Anyways, wine is fun. I wonder how many wine drinkers like Playing with light in the glass. And don’t even get me started on lasers, that’s a whole different ballgame.
