One of our baristas sent this video today. The left side had been pouring slowly and during our nightly clean, they noticed the water was pouring this way. I’ve been looking on Google for what it may be, can’t seem to find an answer. We have a tech coming a week from Monday. We are a very high volume coffee shop however and would like to get it fixed sooner if we’re able to. Any help is appreciated!

Hey there! So I have a similar model of the same brand, and just dealt with this at our shop. Essentially this could be one of two possibilities that I can think of. A) there is a sediment buildup in the tubing/where water is transferred through the machine due to overused water filtration, when’s the last time you guys had your water filter exchanged? B) There is a clog somewhere in the machine whether that could be something sticky like a syrup or just from lack of consistently being cleaned. Is your machine back flushed every shift and brewers cleaned? We had a temporary solution until our guys could get into the machine; we started off back flushing it at least 5-6 times in a row, then cleaned out the gunk trap underneath the metal bottom tray of the espresso machine and that seemed to help the water level!

Hey, I do maintenance on LMs a lot for my work.

Everybody who is saying blocked flow restrictor/gicleur is probably correct. Unfortunately, they are not easily accessible on the classic compared to more modern models. The thing that does confuse me is that if a cafe has issues like this, they tend to pop up somewhat frequently. If this is a first time issue on an old machine I’d probably look at how old the water filters are.

100% the flow restricter – unfortunately it’s threaded into a tube that’s a ballache to get you.

You can try turning up the pressure on the pump to dislodge the scale – I’ve seen that once or twice, otherwise call a tech and hope that they work weekends.

  4. As others have said it’s the restrictor

Also I worked with these and love them. By far my favorite espresso machine
