Just ordered take-out from a new local gourmet burger joint. One of those places with super thick patties that specifically ask how you want the burger cooked. I requested 'medium well', which I realize is akin to blasphamy round these parts, but personal preferences aside, I feel like that's not what I got here.

This looks medium. Personally I’d still eat it but I would definitely not judge someone for sending it back.

That is not medium well if you see this much pink.. and as for describing the cook, I have never seen him or her, but I would say not a good one if they can’t cook it how you asked for it.

Edit: You said on not of.

  3. I eat that at home, but I’d be nervous eating it in the restaurant. Restaurants are nasty.

Poorly is how I would describe that cook.

And medium well on a burger isn’t blasphemy. That shit won’t play in r/steak (nor should it) but a burger is a whole other thing.

Not how I like my burgers, a little to rare. Plus I recently read that ground beef should be cooked to a higher temp because it’s ground so more of it has been exposed to the world or whatever. Whereas with whole pieces of meat, the inside is protected. Not sure how scientifically true this is, but it kinda made sense to me

If no pink is well done, those saying this is medium are not leaving much space for the concept of medium well imo

That’s medium rare imo. Keep an extra roll of toilet paper in the bathroom just in case. Not many burger places freshly grind their meat.

Looks a little under done but I can’t quite tell. Definitely on the edge of medium rare-rare

I would say medium. If I ate it or not depended on where it came from. There are some places where I would definitely send it back and there are others where I always order my beef blue.

I don’t know. What does he or she look like?

Im so glad Canada doesnt do this. Hamburger needs to be fully cooked.  Your waiter will ask you how you want your steak done, thats acceptable and safe.  You will never be asked how you want your burger cooked, because thats dangerous.

  12. Looks like it’s been cooked too quickly, looks like the outside has been seared, maybe the flat top too hot, not enough time for the interior to get up to temp and hence it’s the right colour, but too much of that colour close to the edges.

Likely the burger was at room temp and thrown onto a too hot cooking surface so the outside seared quickly but too quickly for inside to get up to temp.
