I opened some recent (about 3 months old) tomatoes and the seal broke off from the lid as I pulled it off. It was tightly sealed, and the food is not discolored and smells fine. I’m hesitant to eat them, but wanted to check with the group on your thoughts.

I have never seen that happen before

    What brand are the lids

  4. Did the lid take considerable force to get off the jar? More than usual? You might try another can from same batch.

I’ve never had this happen, but it seems like the lid failed, and both the gasket stuff and enamel delaminated from the steel underneath.

Esp if you find multiple, should report to ball with lot# from the box if you still have it.

There are fake lids out there, where did you buy these?
