We always served homemade coleslaw on Thanksgiving. Before food processors invaded our kitchens, we used a box grater. We grated the cabbage in small pieces, no strips. We made the coleslaw the day before, so all the flavors would blend. When I was out on my own, I used plain yogurt instead of mayonnaise in the dressing.
I'm the weirdo that always eats all the salads at parties. You get hungry again quickly and then while everyone else is dying on the couch because they ate too much you have free reign over everything else. That's how I win thanks giving every time.
I dislike Mac and cheese, don't want mashed potatoes, and don't like white bread based "stuffing", so salad is OK with me. It's refreshing and light, and i can have my preferred side dishes later.
A good salad is always welcome! But your salad maths are flawed 😂 those who'll eat the salad are the ones who won't stuff themselves anyway, and those who are here to eat without end are usually not drawn to salad 😂 but thanks for being a middleman!
My mom makes a caesar salad with a ton of garlic in the dressing and a lot of bacon. It became a staple classic at family gatherings. People will devour it before even thinking of eating the turkey. One christmas it even converted my vegan cousin for a day.
I wish my family would bring salad too. We bring salads to other dinner events, but salad is lighter and balances Thanksgiving food so much better like you said. We eat greens and green beans with turkey legs, but its still super rich

You’re uninvited

It’s just like ice cream math when you’re full. It melts through the cracks. 😉

I also bring a salad. My reason was so I don’t feel so guilty, I have at least SOME green in my plate 😂

That’s the stupidest thing I ever heard. That makes him a hypocrite because you know he doesn’t eat meat anyway.
