Just bought this pepper labelled as "Black mama" on a farmers market on Madeira. Do you think it is actually a Big black mama, as it's just roughly 2 by 2 cm in size? I haven't tried it yet, but it looks hot!

it could very well be a big black mama, they vary a bit both in size, shape, and “texture”, tasty pepper. Alternatively, it can be a chocolate moruga.

Looks like the chocolate Carolina reapers that I’m growing.
Yeah black mama is a type of chocolate reaper. Not certain what about them makes them need a new name though. I got some from the seed exchange last year and can’t tell the difference between chocolate reaper and black mama.

They’re usually around that size, usually 1.5* longer than it is wide but big black mama isn’t really stable so it has a lot of variability in size and appearance.
I’d say that’s a little atypical in how it forms but that can be variability.
