Overall I'm not too thrilled with Indian / Pakistani food in LA. So I've been asking my Indian friends where to go. They all say Chargha House for the most authentic and good food on the West Side. (They also recommended Abhiruchi)

Gotta agree with their recommendation. This veggie combo was absolutely delicious. Came with mixed veggie curry, spinach and chickpeas, and lentils with chillies, rice, naan, and a drink. All for $18.

The vegetables were really flavorful. Didn’t just all taste the same. The spinach was the most plain taste where most of the flavor was the spinach itself. I liked this because the other dishes were more intense and spicy. The spinach tasted very fresh and it had a little leafyness to it as opposed to the typical saag which is more of a ground up / mushy texture (I like that too. Mush isn’t a bad thing) The chickpeas were a nice addition in the spinach to add variety of texture and also a different flavor.

The mixed veggie curry had cauliflower, carrot, zucchini, and potato. Had a nice amount of spice.

The dal was excellent. Quite spicy, not super hot though. Again just rich flavor and a nice blend of texture with some mush but also some lentil chew.

The naan was a slightly different style than I’m used to and I loved it. It was thicker, almost like a pizza flatbread.

The rice was even better than expected. Definitely a quality basmati rice and cooked just right. A lot of restaurants overcook the basmati rice and it loses it’s individual grain texture or it’s too short grain and you can tell it’s cheap.

Service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere is what it is lol nothing special but for this sort of family run little place in a strip mall with Big Lots it was good.

I’ll definitely be coming back.
