I bought a Splenda blend because I thought it would cut the amount of sugar and calories because the sugar is cut with a zero calorie alternative. But that seems to not be the case because the same amount of Splenda and brown sugar shows that the blend is higher calorie. I made a pie and used Splenda in place of the brown sugar it called for thinking that it would significantly reduce the calories.
I did use the conversion chart, so I understand the idea is that you can use less Splenda to get the same amount of sweetness as straight sugar… but I already reduce the sugar in everything I make and was used to the reduced sweetness. I don’t need it to be equally sweet if it’s going to be higher calorie than just using less sugar. Sooo… what the point for me to use this? Am I missing something?

IIRC, Splenda brown as the same amount of calories as regular brown sugar. It’s mainly sugar and molasses.
But you use HALF as much Splenda brown as regular sugar since it’s got extra sweetness from the Splenda.
You can use less for the same level of sweetness
