So bought this Traeger ironwood 885 for 400 bucks. Crappy thing is it needs an extensive scrub down, they left it outside with the Traeger cover on but where they live they get a bunch of moisture in the air so mold grew in the grill. So my question is, what cleaners are you guys using to scrub down your grill inside and what to watch out for. First time owning one.

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!

If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!

    *What seasoning did you use?

*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?

*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?

    Traeger on!

I’d fire it up for an hour and see what’s left after it’s done.

I use the citrus natural cleaner in the grill section or you can use a simple 1-1 of warm water and cleaning vinegar. It’s a light degreaser.

After you get it scrubbed down bring it to about 300 for a little bit to ensure it’s dry. Then let it cool down. After that I rub down the interior fully with avocado oil like it’s a cast iron skillet then run it at 400 for 30-45 minutes. This will protect the interior and also helps prevent the mold.

I’d pull everything out and scrub with hot soapy water, there may be a commercial cleaner you can get at Home Depot for the inside of the barrel after that fire it up and re season it

Take the grill, drip tray and heat deflector out. Open the hopper and remove and dispose of all the pellets you can, may need to remove the grate to let you get to the bottom. If there’s an option to manually run the auger to clear the tube, do that and vacuum everything you can out of the cook chamber, make sure the fire pot is empty. Put the stuff back, add fresh pellets and turn it on and let it run at 400 for an hour. That will kill everything inside and the. You can use a bbq brush to get everything off.
If there’s mold inside, I’d wear a mask while removing and reinstalling the parts and using the vacuum.

The Dawn Power Spray works wonders too but I would definitely follow Lutherized’s recommendation.
