
So, I made this apple butter recipe and I tasted the apple pulp after the puree process and it was amazing as is so I was wondering if I could can the puree I get before adding the rest of the stuff for the butter because I wouldn't mind having a bunch of that set aside as well. The difference between the Ball applesauce and your recipe (up to the puree step) is the apples are cooked with water, not cider. I’d reach out to your extension office.
Yes you can! Apples can be canned on their own as applesauce, lemon juice is not needed and sugar is just for taste preference.
I bring it up to boiling than turn of the burner and fill jars to 1/2 in headspace, install lids and process in a water bath canner for 20 minutes.
