First time trying to smoke pork butts. Not the best but good starting point.

    Looks like you had them in foil boats and covered that might’ve impacted your bark a bit. I have adopted the no wrap method as it gives fool proof bark! If I’m ever worried about the amount of moisture in the pork I’ll put it in a foil pan uncovered and then shred it in that pan. Looks like it turned out great though! I love some pulled pork

    No wrap for us and we prefer Boston butts to picnic shoulders

    The first time never is perfect. My first time we had to throw it away, because I couldn’t get my temps high enough. But don’t worry, just keep on trying and learning!

    What rubs to y’all like using? I used Adkins chicken and pork rub and it was solid not my favorite ever. The other butt I used fire and smoke cherry cola and it essentially had 0 flavor.
