One 20 lb turkey =
1. A meal for 16 people
2. Leftover sandwiches all weekend (8 sandwiches)
3. Turkey soup for 8 people
4. 14 quarts (3.5 gallons) of thick bone broth
5. 24 frozen dog food pucks ($2/meal at The Farmers Dog)
6. Bucket of bone meal for the compost ($15 a bag)
So let’s do the math:
The original turkey cost $20.
– Main meal: going to a restaurant for a plate is $17-25/person…. So let’s just call this $5/person for just the prepared main Turkey
– Turkey sandwich: call it $5 a person just for the main part of the sandwich if you went to a lunch counter
– Bowl of thick turkey soup: call it $5 person at Whole Foods
– Bone broth: this is $7 for for 16 oz at Whole Foods (14 Quartz = 28 pints)
– Meat dog food is $2 a meal at The Farmers Dog
– Bone Meal Fertilizer is $15 a bag.
And that’s how you turn $20 into $420 worth of food. That’s a 21x fold increase or 2100% ROI!!!!!!

Now sell it 😆 🤣 😂
I suppose that’s not a lot of work to save $400. Good post.
Your numbers are skewed but looks good.
Tell me more about the dog food. Did you just use dark meat scraps for those? I got a cheap frozen turkey and times are tough. This is a good idea as a filler for my two dog’s food.
Looks awesome. My animal would love those dog food pucks. How do you go about making those?
I buy rotisserie chickens quite a bit.
Congratulations! You have now officially turned into my grandmother! I grew up watching this wonderful woman do this type cooking weekly and feeding anyone and everyone who came within arms length of her. 🥰
She was a precious jewel and so are you,Stacyaya!❤️❤️❤️
Where’d you get a 20lb organic turkey for $1/lb?!
Your math is sort of crazy but I absolutely support the concept!!
That’s… not how money works. How much was the pressure cooker? The ingredients for the sandwiches? The labor put into it? The mason jars?
From the title I thought you were going to show pictures of the self check out. 😛
A 20 pound turkey for $20….? Your numbers are so off it’s hysterical. But yeah, utilizing every part of the animal is ideal.
Dog treats
So you are selling it and making a profit?
Better to eat at home with home-prepared foods if you want to save money.
Your numbers are a bit inflated but the actual value for a $20 turkey is undebatable. Let’s do this without the restaurant prices:
Meat for 16 people at $3/lb (Boneless breast chicken for comparison) for say 1/2 lb serving per person – $24
Sandwich meat for 8 sandwiches at 1/4 lb serving at $7/lb – $14
Soup using 2 32 oz Turkey Stock cartons ($2.50 each) and 1 lb turkey breast ($3) (don’t do this, it’s just an example) – $8
Bone broth $4 for 32 oz * 7 = $28
Dog food – I’ll give you this one at $2*24 = $48 (Everyone who feeds fresh food to their dog should cook their own)
Bone Meal Fertilizer – I’ll give you this one too (I’m a big fan of composting) – $15
So grand total for me is $124 – not a bad food haul at all 🙂
It’s post like these that make me wish I still had a garage freezer. Good job OP! 👍🏻
