It’s a whole baked onion – but that’s what the kids are calling it!
This one, which was my first attempt, is a brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, gochujang, and sesame oil sweet onion. It was baked wrapped in foil at 375°F for 1 hour.
Not the prettiest, but oh so delicious! It tasted creamy and sweet because of how soft the onion became. I ate the whole thing with fried tofu in one sitting.
Mind you – I only sauced and seasoned just enough to coat the onion, all that “juice” you see it sitting in was made deliciously in the oven as it cooked and released moisture. The juices were so good that I saved it and used it in ramen broth the next day!

This looks divine

I’m so horngry right now
Yes daily it’s amazing
I’ve been wanting to make this forever, this photo is gorgeous and you’ve just convinced me! I don’t have brown sugar but I have white sugar and palm sugar. If I don’t drink the broth, it’ll surely be used for ramen tomorrow.
Smart to use the juices for broth
Cut the top off, scoop out the middle, add a 1/2 tbsp butter, a 1/2 tsp beef bouillon, sprinkle to top with your favorite BBQ rub, wrap in foil, bake in the oven at 350 for at least an hour, 2 is better.
I tried an onion boil for the first time yesterday, and it was delicious. I will definitely repeat this!
Did you add hamburger?
Y’know what, fuck it, this is the post that finally convinced me. I’m doing the damn thing.
Yes and its amazing

This looks delicious! Does it need to bake it in a little bowl bc of all the juices that come out? Also do I need to cut the onion before baking? Yours looks like it’s scored or cut. Yum!!
Not the prettiest? Are you insane? The the best looking goddamn onion I’ve ever seen
Can I please have the recipe?
