Hey! It looks like you posted an image!
If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!
*What seasoning did you use?
*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?
*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?
Traeger on!

This was also my experience using the Meater. I trusted the Meater temp over the Traeger temp, and I wholeheartedly believe the bbq needing longer cook times at lower temps comes off better using the Meater temps and times.
High heat fast cooking there is less of a discrepancy, in my experience.

Discrepancy is from the Meatr probe being close to what looks like a frozen cut of meat.

The probes are in different places. Traeger is up high, meater is (I assuming) in a chunk of cold meat. That cold meat is affecting the meater reading. The ambient temp in the traeger is not the same everywhere – it’s cooler near the meat.

Mine is about 50 degrees off in the beginning as the meat heats up the ambient temp gets closer to the treager temp. This has been checked with another thermometer and the treager temp was correct.

I quit using the MEATER. And I never trust the Traeger because it’s off. I use a thermometer I set inside and an instant read for meats.

This is normal, won’t ever be the same man if I had a nickel for how many times…

Is it possible that your meater is set to Celsius while your traeger is using Fahrenheit?
stevemc643
In Celsius these temps are pretty close?

It’s totally normal. Think about it like this… In that Traeger, the hottest thing is the firebox, and the coldest thing is your protein. If you put a probe 1 inch from the firebox, you’ll get wicked high temperatures, and 1 inch from your protein, you’ll get low temperatures. It’s all about probe placement.
As you cook, you’ll notice that the ambient temperature on the Meater rises as the internal temperature of your protein rises.
If you’re ever worried that the Traeger probe is incorrect, note the temperature in your smoker as you first fire it up. It should be relatively close to the ambient temperature outside.

Nope

I noticed this when I did a turkey a couple weeks ago. Traeger app seems more accurate for ambient temp and the Meater seems to be more accurate for internal temp. I do still use the Traeger probe for smaller pieces of meat and shorter cooks though because the Meater probe is beefy
