I suppose it’s bc I didn’t let the melted chocolate and butter cool down…

Little bit of vanilla or fruity ice cream. Crumble that on top. Boom not a waste!

  2. MyBookOfStories

I see sundae material. You just need hot fudge and ice cream.

  3. Take-A-Breath-924

My family would eat that. 🙂

It happens, baking is a science experiment. And sometimes, experiments go wrong, no biggie. But as other have said, crumble it on some ice cream and it’ll all be fine 🥰

Sometimes I am happy to see some fails on this subreddit. 😅 people here are intimidating

Perfection is in the eye of the beholder. So, they have some caramelization on top. I’d take one for a bite.

Oh my gosh, I feel so validated because I tried to make this exact same recipe from the same website and it also turned out terrible. I’m a pretty experienced baker and not a beginner so I was extra irritated lol

I’ve made this several times, it tastes AMAZING. But I only ever ONCE got it to look like the picture but slightly more brown. I read one of the reviews to put foil over, so I put it in the oven a bit first to stiffen the top and then put foil over for the rest of the baking, it helped it not burning the top too fast. It’s a really tricky recipe and I even sent a mail to her asking what kind of oven she has because it has to have some insane setting that won’t brown the top. She never replied

  9. Looks…awful! Let me save you from this travesty! Ship COD if you like.

Maybe call it a brown butter white choc brownies and it’s now artisanal.

  11. SpuddleBuns

Well, it looks like you nailed the “crinkled tops,” part!
I feel your pain – My first attempt (and last) at scones gave me a half baking tray of one giant hard something that took 2 hours to soak off, instead of 12 of Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite teatime treat.

    Better luck next time!

EDIT: And THANK YOU for sharing this with us. I guffawed when I first saw the last picture, and felt SUCH a kindred spirit!

Honestly, that recipe pic looks kind of raw and under baked.

  13. Virtual_Ad748

If they came out cakes, you could make a trifle with them 👀

  14. Unusual_Document5301

Me: “ It can’t be thaaat bad.”
    Swipes to third picture….
    Ooooh….😳😓

  15. MidnightCephalopod

I’m sorry; I don’t mean to laugh, but the photo series was perfect 😅

  16. Antique_Ad4940

My husband would say it’s “still edible” and eat it happily. Very few mess ups are trash…

  17. cruxtopherred

I clicked to second pic and went “how is that bad” then…

  18. InteractionNew1660

That would make a beautiful trifle. Strawberry (or any fruit) and whipped cream layers.

  19. pepperpavlov

In the first picture, how could they possibly have stopped the top from turning brown without covering the whole thing in tin foil?

  20. Famous-Restaurant875

A lot of these websites are just ripping untested recipes off the internet and slapping an AI generated image and story on it and posting them. You get paid for clicks not for good recipes

  21. IsThereCheese

those don’t look so baaAAAAAAAAHHAAHAD 😳

  22. serenity1218

    Make a trifle!

Complete with beef sautéed with peas and onions. 😋

  23. IAmTheArcher171

It would only be a disaster if it was completely inedible. Looks to me like a ‘chuck some in a bowl with cream/custard/ice cream and who’s gonna care’ job. Done that myself with cake-fails many a time and it still tastes the same whether it looks pretty or not lol

  24. is-it-a-bot

I see something I would eat straight out of the dish with a spoon…

  25. undeuxtroiscatsank6

It looks like Gooey Butter Cake

  26. Educational-South146

The original recipe photo looks worse 🤢

  27. Squeeesh_

Omg I had this with a cinnamon roll blonde years ago. It just came apart at the cinnamon. I shaped them into like a cake pop bite thing. They weren’t bad.

  28. Disgruntled_Orifice

Rich and white chocolate don’t belong in the same sentence.

  29. cancat918

That’s not you. That’s the recipe. Dust with powder sugar, serve with ice cream or fruit topping. It will be fine.

  30. 1961tracy

I tried flax seed milk in a recipe. It was the first and last time I did that. Your last picture reminds me of how awful it turned out.

  31. The picture looks like it could be the ooey gooey butter bars tbh

  32. AlphonseCoco

This looks so much like ooey gooey buttercake lol

  33. The site’s image seems a piece of parmigiano reggiano, so don’t worry, yours is more bake-like

  34. Wonderful-Status-507

second pic: oh wym they look beautiful!
    third pic: oh… oh no

  35. torywestside

I have had issues making this exact recipe before. It never set properly, and I left it in the oven WAY longer than the recipe’s baking time to try to get it to do so. My end product didn’t look anything like their image but it still does taste pretty good!

  36. eatyacarbs

i KNOW these still taste really good, i just *know* it
