Have you never grilled on an open fire?

    That’s the original grilling.

That’s like asking, ‘Ok, I like drinking liquids. But does water count?’

As long as it doesn’t smell like a campfire hangover, you’re good to go!

Lid off and not too close to the griddle you’re good to go. Lid on will 100% ruin the cook.

Unnecessary snark. There are some woods sold for use in fire places/pits that don’t make good grilling. This isn’t the place to ridicule honest questions.

  5. Hold up, people are commenting that it’s a great idea but that’s not always true. I wouldn’t recommend grilling on a gas station bunch of wood, it’s often wood from like spruce. I wouldn’t recommend grilling on that as it’s smoke isn’t nice and potentially even poisonous. But grilling on oak or beech is fine

You can, but honestly idk why you’d want to. Charcoal burns more consistently and will give a better flavor unless that’s apple wood or something like that

Depends on the type of wood. Cypress, fir, hemlock, pine, redwood, spruce and cedar will ruin the taste, and could make you sick. Also want to make sure there are no chemicals.

Cheaper to buy a half cord than a few bundles

Preferable to use gluten free, cage free, free range, non GMO wood

You’re rolling the dice. It’s probably not pine, since that’s super bad for fireplaces as well as grilling. Could be cedar, which is fine for fireplaces and terrible for grilling. Could be oak, which is excellent for both. Almost certainly not any kind of fruit or nut tree wood. Maybe you could burn a little and go by smell?

  12. if the firewood is oak ….or something like hickory, pecan, cherry wood …then yes, you can grill with it

Don’t use pine. Food will taste funky.
