had a super busy day today so the family decided to order pasta instead of cooking. i usually just agree with the stated calories on foods and don’t overthink it, but for this my brain just can’t understand how this is apparently 720 kcal. it was really large considering it is mostly pasta, and i ate it in two separate sittings because i was SO full – i know i should’ve just stopped after the first sitting, but i struggle with hunger cues and understanding when enough is enough. but after i ate the whole thing, i was incredibly full, bloated and hiccuping for at least an hour afterwards.
for more information, i always save a lot of my calories for dinner time and usually eat around 700-800 for dinner anyway. granted it’s usually a healthier mix of carbs, protein and veggies, but the quantity itself definitely wasn’t larger than my usual dinners.
my mum started to question whether i might have an intolerance to gluten, but i never had this issue before i started eating healthier a month ago. is it just because my body is used to eating better foods now?
i logged it as 900 and moved on, im not too worried about it if i did overeat for one day, since i’m viewing this as my new lifestyle rather than just a diet, i’m more just curious as to how that meal could have possibly been the calories stated online.
sorry for the long post, and thank you if you read through my rambling this far!
(and no i didn’t add any extra toppings that would change the calorie count, just basil)

I think they’re saying the calorie amount shown on the pasta is just for the dish itself without any extra toppings included.
Back to that gluten intolerance thing though. I was the same way, but I was tested and I found out I have celiac disease. If you can, I’d go see a doctor and specifically have them test you for gluten intolerance and celiac.
