For context, my family traveled to Lebanon for a wedding over a year ago where we visited Musar and the Bekka Valley. We did a portfolio tasting including some of the older vintages which was great to understand the role and personality that Serge Hochar played in the wines rise to international prominence. All that said, I was shocked to find a 25 year Musar at my local market for under $100 no less.

That is a great wine at a sensible price… Musar has exploded in value in recent years, first there was a surge in demand as people realised what great value it is, and now obviously with the war the supply is disrupted as well.
The 98’ is probably slightly past its best but still very good. If you haven’t opened one before, be prepared for the cork to be as soft as goats cheese

I’ve had the pleasure to drink about 4 bottles of 2000 Musar in the last year or so. Only had the chance to try 1998 once but it was corked. I am jealous of OP.

I d take the red any day. It is fantastic when aged properly on par with the greatest of Bordeaux
BUT I ve had to throw away at least 5 bottles that were spoiled.
So for 95$ you get a 500$ bottle but half are possibly going to the sink
