Was given these very hot hot pepper flakes and wanted to replace. The person doesn’t know what type of peppers/chilies they are. They are very hot but do not have a flavor profile. I’ve tried Calabrian chilies and a Japanese chili that I can’t remember now but can’t match the heat. Pretty sure that they are not habanero. Any insight would be appreciated.

Dried.
Pepper Flakes, Dried 1 each.
The only Japanese pepper I know of is literally called Japanese pepper, chile japones. It is a spicy little bite but nothing crazy.
Nobody can taste your pepper through the screen though, and it just looks like any other dried pepper. It could literally be anything from a red jalapeño all the way up to pepper X.
It’s hard to tell from the picture.
If they’re about as hot as habaneros then they could be Thai bird’s eye chilis, especially since that’s a pretty common cultivar to make into crushed pepper flakes.
No
Is that…HAROLD?!
