The holiday season is in full swing, and who better to guide us through festive cheer than Ree Drummond? In her latest Instagram video, The Pioneer Woman shared her beloved Christmas cookie recipe, her cozy holiday traditions and what’s topping her Christmas wish list this year. From magical cookies to matching pajamas, Ree is bringing the holiday spirit!
Ree Drummond’s favorite Christmas cookie recipe—it’s ‘magical’
Ree Drummond’s Christmas cookies, particularly her brown sugar oatmeal cookies, are a holiday staple she loves to bake.
“[They’re] the best cookies in the world,” the chef said. “They’re dark and magical, chewy and dense, delicious and delicious.”
And now, weeks later, it seems like Drummond is standing by that statement because she just recently revealed that she has “made an additional seven batches” of the dough, which is “the key to Ladd’s [Drummond, her husband] happiness.”
She even posted a video on her Instagram showcasing how, even with prepared dough, the cookies still make the perfect sweet treat this time of year—especially when paired with one of her famous hot chocolate recipes, which she of course adds double the amount of marshmallows to. Ree proceeds to lay them all out for Santa on her holiday plates, which are available to purchase at Walmart.
“Warning: My Christmas spirit is comin’ in hot this year,” says The Pioneer Woman.
Ree Drummond’s holiday traditions: Cookies, Pajamas and Shopping
When she’s not making delicious cookies, Drummond also loves to spend time with her family in their matching pajamas.
“I spend an inordinate amount of time scouring the world (well, the world wide web) for Christmas pajamas that have any sort of strange, funny, weird or wacky angle. The more embarrassing, the better,” the chef wrote in her blog. “I prefer not to select any Christmas pajamas that fall under the ‘sweet’ or ‘lovely’ category. I place the order and hide them so no one can possibly see them before the holidays.” Last year, the Drummond family dressed up in reindeer pajamas, for example.
Another thing The Pioneer Woman loves to do is shop! And this year, Drummond has already gotten a lot of her gift-giving done, saying, “I started Christmas shopping early this year because I’m usually scrambling in the last two weeks to find everyone the perfect gift. Yes, I do thrive on tight deadlines (I’ve sure had a lot of practice with them!), but I decided to change things up for Christmas 2024.”
What’s on Ree Drummond’s Christmas wish list this year
Of course, Christmas is all about giving, but it’s also about receiving, and this year, Drummond only wants one thing: to become a grandma.
“No one needs to get me anything this year because the ultimate gift is already in the works: Alex and Mauricio will be welcoming their first baby in early January, if not before,” says the chef. “Ladd and I are getting ready to enter the Granny and Gramps stage (figuratively speaking; no grandparent names have been chosen yet!).
“Considering that neither Ladd nor I had this on our bingo card this year, we have really settled into the happy news, and I have even started buying ridiculously adorable onesies for our future granddaughter. Look out, Ladd! A whole new column of monthly spending has been created.”
