finally bit the bullet and tried my hand at royal icing!! funnily enough my expectations were proven inverse; i thought i'd be awful at outlining/detailing (ok, i'm not good at it yet!! but i thought it would be way worse lol) and the flooding would prove easier
i had to use a glass to cut the cookie dough because i'm moving house and stupidly packed away all my cutters!!!! and it kinda sunk the edges of my cookies so i was not flooding onto a properly flat surface which complicated things hence all the dripping hahaha
my hands were otherwise wayyy steadier than i thought they'd be and i found the whole process quite therapeutic!! my next bake is going to be lemon zest sugar cookies with lemon icing 😛
also need to order some good dyes because i was just using some relic of red powder dye and it would not behave!!!! the flowers were supposed to be red but they just remained adamantly salmon pink???? genuinely have no idea where it came from and how it got into my cabinet

Loooove the flower ones! Did you use a paintbrush to achieve that look?
Gorgeous!
A lot of people will flip the cookies upside down to avoid the sunken edges effect. It’s usually a much flatter surface! Another thing that would solve that problem is just adding an extra cup or two of powdered sugar.
That being said, these sound delicious and look beautiful!
