What fast food chain has the best onion rings? Personally, I love Culver’s onion rings, but that’s also like the only fast food place I go too since I’m from Wisconsin… curious to see what other onion lovers think!

I’ve never had a good fast food onion ring. They’re always breadcrumbed rather than battered, and I just don’t like that.

Alas, of the two decent local chippys near me, one does breadcrumbed ones that obviously came frozen in a bag, and the other batters their own, but cuts the onions so thin that the batter can’t stick, so you end up with a styrofoam tray of batter fragments and onion strings.

Proper pub onion rings, now, those are superb.

  2. Whataburger is good, not great but they use whole rings

I’d put Culver’s at the top of my list. Got some Carl’s Jr ones yesterday and didn’t even finish them. Very disappointing.

White Castle does onion chips instead of rings and they’re pretty great.

Culvers is one of my favorites but there was an Irish pub I used to go to that made the best beer battered onion rings.

I think the last great fast-food onion ring I had was from A&W Rootbear. Back when they had drive-ins.

IMO A&W has dynamite onions rings. Some people will disagree because they’re breaded instead of battered, but I think they’re the best.

I agree with burger King, i don’t really like anything there because of bad experiences but their onion rings are pretty good. Now I want onion rings and a butter burger from Culver’s but the closest one is an hour away

Whataburger. A lil greasy but the light crisp is delightful

Ambassador Fish and Chicken in NJ, so cheap and a huge portion!

Portillos here in Illinois (Chicagoland, for me) has really solid onion rings

Culvers onion rings are by far the best fast food onion ring, but then again culvers does like to teeter on the line of fast food and casual dining

I’ll be the odd one out. Jack In The Box has always had solid onions rings for fast food.

Sonic. They’re have a little bit of a sweeter kind of batter they’re tasty

Mutt ‘n Jeff’s drive-in in Nebraska. Not a chain, and only open in spring/summer but oh my.

It’s not a nationwide chain, but if you’re ever near Buffalo NY go to their local chain Ted’s Hot Dogs. Hand battered and made with love.

  17. Holiday_Loquat_717

Culvers by far, especially with their tarter sauce.

  18. Zaxby’s *USE* to have the best onion ring. I settle for Sonic’s now.

I haven’t had it since I was a kid, but I think Burger King had some good ones.

  20. Ahahhuahauuahuha

Sonic for sure. They add their ice cream mix to the batter so it’s like a funnel cake onion ring 😩😩

    Culver’s is definitely #1 but I also love A&W’s

Ehh I love outback because of their blooming onions but those aren’t technically onion rings .

My fave onion rings are probably the Jhonny rocket’s ones . I do live in Latin America so even if these are restaurant chains that exist all around the globe they might taste a bit different.

One of my best friends told me his favorite onion rings were the hoolingan ones . But I feel they have a bit too much batter so they feel a bit too mushy to me , I feel Jhonny rocket’s ones are crispier

  23. Culver’s is my choice as well. But White Castle has petals. Really satisfying as they are quite big.

Out of all the places I’ve tried, Dairy Queen is the best. A&W is the worst, they put too much salt on them

Culver’s rings w/ boom boom sauce

    Portillo’s rings w/ giardiniera sauce

    10/10
