My ceramics instructor (I'm an adult and the classes aren't associated with a school, just a studio) makes these awesome body mugs and it's her birthday today, our last day of class, when she only moved to the area recently, so my friend and I conspired to make her a birthday cake – in the shape of her mugs. Friend wasn't feeling well so I did my best. Never made a custom-shaped cake before … forgot I was short on frosting tips following an accident with a cat and a poorly installed kitchen counter… overextended myself yesterday and was barely standing and over time by the time I got to the flowers … eh, still cool lol

Awwww it’s so cute! What a great idea.
I feel like this needs to be cross-posted into r/sewing, considering the number of folks who sew their own dress forms there…
How incredibly sweet of you. I’m sure she will be touched by your thoughtfulness and the fact that is made as an homage to her own work is the cherry on top. Well done! 👏
Looks pretty good
can i get the cake and the mug in a combo deal? lol
love them! you can totally see how the mug was the inspiration. you did so well 🙂
Your cake looks excellent!!
So… does your instructor have an online store or an instagram? I need that mug.
I like how you specified it’s not a school like “don’t @ me this is all adults” 😂 good work too
I think you did great!! Like awesome!!!! Nice work!!
Honestly the convergence of ceramics and cake/food decoration and such makes sense to me, like using ceramic joining techniques with fondant and such lol
I want one of those mugs
