My 2nd attempt at using homemade buttercream to decorate a tiered heard cake. It’s not great, but at least it’s better than the 1st try lol

little more icing powder and maybe pop the icing in the fridge for a little and it will set nice. in your pic the butter in the icing looks warm and delicious lol i’ve seen others freeze their cake before icing

This looks pretty good for a beginner, great job. It looks like your buttercream was a bit warm – you’ll have cleaner lines if it’s slightly cooler. Also just fyi this is not a tiered cake, tiers are when several cakes of different sizes are stacked on top of each other (usually with internal supports so the bottom cakes aren’t crushed). Since this one is the same width all the way up it’s a layer cake.
Another tip if you want to practice your writing – you can pipe words/shapes onto a piece of parchment and then refrigerate or freeze it until it’s solid, then just gently place it on top of the cake. Also works great for flowers or leaves or other little pieces of decor.
