LENAWEE COUNTY — Have you been asked to bring Christmas cookies to a party but don’t have time to bake? Are you planning a family dinner for the holiday but want something different from the usual ham or turkey? Stores, restaurants, bakeries and food truck operators are offering special deals to reduce holiday prep stress.
The following specials were promoted on local business’s Facebook pages and websites. Any business that wants to add their specials to this list is welcome to email the information to news@lenconnect.com.
Bob Evans
At Bob Evans, 1417 S. Main St. in Adrian, there are six Farmhouse Feasts to choose from: a $159.99 premium package that includes turkey and ham and serves 10; packages with turkey ($124.99), ham ($114.99) or roast beef ($164.99) that serve eight; and smaller versions of the turkey ($94.99) and ham ($84.99) deals that serve four. They include bread and celery stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and ham, corn, rolls and a pumpkin pie. Some also include macaroni and cheese, cranberry relish, an apple pie and pumpkin bread. The meals are packed cold and require up to two hours of heating. Customers can choose pickup or delivery, set a pickup or delivery time when ordering and add roasted sweet potatoes and extra mashed potatoes. Other menu items, such as pies and family-size side dishes, are also available.
Hot meals can be ordered, too, including for $99.99 a family meal with turkey, ham, bread and celery dressing, cranberry relish, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and ham, buttered corn, 12 rolls and a pumpkin pie. It serves six. Individual hot Celebration Platters also are available, with a turkey and ham option for $18.99 and a turkey option for $16.99. There also are breakfast options.
Busch’s
At the Busch’s stores in Clinton and Tecumseh, customers can choose from packages that include a whole turkey, a boneless turkey breast, spiral ham or a rib roast. The dinners come with the main entree and three sides, each 3 pounds in size. The turkey dinners include poultry gravy, and the roast includes au jus. Prices range from $89 for the boneless turkey breast to $179 for the rib roast. The turkey breast dinner serves four to six people and the others serve six to eight. There are options to add more side dishes, rolls or desserts, or swap the Busch’s ham for a Dearborn ham for an additional cost. Meals can be ordered in the store or online at buschs.com. The deadline to order is Dec. 21, and orders must be placed at least 48 hours in advance. The stores are closed on Christmas Day.
Downtown Dempsey’s
Downtown Dempsey’s, 136 E. Maumee St. Ste. 2 in the Gallery of Shops in downtown Adrian, aims to live up to its slogan of “good eats, sweet treats” with the restaurant’s Christmas pre-orders. Orders can be picked up on Dec. 23.
Among the pie options are peanut butter, peanut butter cookie, Dutch apple, pecan, pumpkin, Better than Pumpkin Pie Pie, chocolate Nutella and s’mores. Other choices include oatmeal cream pies and cinnamon rolls by the half-dozen and cloud buckeyes, ornament Oreos, and Christmas cake balls by the dozen. Cake ball flavors include eggnog, gingerbread, red velvet, lemon, vanilla and chocolate.
Meijer
At the Meijer deli, customers can order a $59.99 dinner of turkey, cranberries, green bean casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy. Orders must be placed in the store at least 24 hours in advance.
Morning Fresh Bakery
Morning Fresh Bakeries in Adrian is taking cookie orders until Dec. 19 for all kinds of treats, from tiny iced cookies to large, decorated cut-outs. Orders can be placed in person or by calling 517-265-2993.
Smoky D’z BBQ
Smoky D’z BBQ, which operates a food truck around Lenawee County, is smoking meats and cooking side dishes for holiday meals. Brisket is $25 per pound, and pulled pork is $18 per pound. Sides include cheesy taters, baked beans, cornbread and cole slaw. Full pans are $65, and half-pans are $35. They are taking a limited number of orders, so send a message through their Facebook page to see if orders are still be accepted.
Sunset Ridge BBQ
Downtown Tecumseh’s barbecue takeout joint, Sunset Ridge BBQ at 113 S. Evans St., is offering a ’Tis the Season meal package through December. A la carte options are also available.
The meal package includes brisket, ham, baked beans, cole slaw, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes with gravy, and Stuffin Muffins. It serves six to eight people and has a regular price of $212, but is on sale for $149. A la carte items include a 6- to 8-pound, unsliced, smoked brisket that serves 12 to 16 people for $175 on sale, regularly $224; a 12- to 14-pound smoked half ham that serves 16 to 20 people for $100; half pan sides of cheesy taters, green beans, mac ‘n cheese and and mashed potatoes for $35 to $50; smoked apple pie for $30; bread pudding for $50; and smoked cheesecake for $45. Orders must be placed at least two days in advance to get the discounted prices.
Tecumseh Bread & Pastry
Downtown Tecumseh’s artisan bakery, Tecumseh Bread & Pastry at 118 W. Chicago Blvd., is taking orders for Christmas. Orders should be placed sooner rather than later, and items can be picked up between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dec. 23 and 7 a.m. to noon on Dec. 24. Items available for pickup on Dec. 23 and 24 include: challah bread; cranberry pecan sourdough; country sourdough; Cheddar sourdough; five-grain and seed bread; Italian bread and baguettes; and miche, which is a naturally leavened, whole-grain, French table bread that can be ordered in quarter, half or full loaves; limited quantities of cherry-almond pannettone, which is an Italian holiday bread that takes nearly 20 hours of hands-on time to make one batch; citrus rolls; and pfeffernüsse brioche.
Other items available daily in December include German stollen, eggnog danish, Gingerbread, various kinds of croissants, and pastries and sweets such as carrot cake, eclairs, ganache tarts, apple tarts, coffee cake, breakfast cookies and cookies.
