European Tries Making American Biscuits and Gravy for the First Time

I don't think we've HAD so much fun watching anyone prepare a recipe!!! You're doing great!
You can add onions, celery, etc chopped finely in with the sausage while it cooks, also you can add some buillion into the sausage flour mix for added flavor, and if you grab a fork for your biscuits , you can add a fried egg over top!..mm nice job!…9
My wife and I have considered moving to Portugal when we retire in a few years. If we do, her Biscuits and gravy is amazing. You'll be invited over my friend. And we're from Texas
You did a wonderful job. The more you make the biscuits and gravy the easier it get. Love watching. Bye the way I watched to the end but I forgot the number you said to use. Keep up the cooking please.
Great job! So nice for the first try. Most people don't get it on the first try.
9 Greetings from Western Massachusetts 👋
Nice to see you trying new cuisine…keep in mind that mistakes DO happen. That's why god made dogs 😂. When I was teaching myself how to cook a few decades ago. I had three dogs to help make the mistakes disappear. 😊
What? Adding lemon to milk will make your milk curdle. It will go bad! Don't do it!
Buttermilk biscuits are mostly made improperly from native born Americans. If you can make a good biscuit with the ingredients you have, I will personally be your sponsor to become American. Buttermilk is best but it works with whole mils as well. Since I'm commenting at the beginning, I'm excited to see what you make. I used to cook in a restaurant where we would sell out daily because people came for my biscuits amd gravy. Do this American proud!
Great… now I'm hungry 😂
Extra gravy, please 🙏 ❤
I agree with some of the comments … You should split the biscuits in half and have the insides facing up before pouring the gravy over them. They soak up the gravy better that way.
If the dough is super sticky, it is perfect. You put flour on the board and on your hands and start turning it from there. You want to fold it a few times and not knead it too much because the biscuits will become tough. I'd love to send you a private video of how I used to make them.
9, 9 and a thousand times nine! I love this channel so much!! ❤🎉. You go my friend!
They puffed up perfectly! As long as they're flaky and moist inside, you nailed it. I can't tell you how much it means that you appreciate our culture and especially our veterans since I am one. You deserve to me an American more than most of the ungrateful people who were born here. Sending much love to you and your family brother!
So great to watch you discovering cooking!
You’re inspiring me to cook more creatively with these classic American recipes! At the end of the day it comes down to- did it taste good? If yes you win!! ❤ 9
I would order this dish from your restaurant in a heartbeat. It looks yummy!
You're quite the cook. You have to have some experience, maybe not with American dishes but your technique and understanding regardless of whether the recipe you follow is working. You know how to adjust. Love it and bravo my friend. I'd be excited to eat
Dip your biscuit cutter in a little bit of flour before you use it to cut each biscuit out of the dough. The dough won't stick to the cutter and you can place them on the counter as you cut them and it works great. We don't use our hands to eat biscuits though. Fork is good and you might want to let your gravy cook a little longer to thicken it up but it's fine the way it is. If it tastes good to you, it's a success!! Great job! That sausage looked awesome!
Awesome job 😊
It works a bit better (IMO – some people like their gravy chunky with sausage meat, so, it is based on your preference) if you chop the sausage meat into a finer grind, so it's more the consistency of browned ground beef… then all those little bits of sausage permeates the gravy, so its a thicker overall consistency because of that. But honestly, people generally make WAY MORE gravy then needed, because the biscuits are usually completely smothered in it – it's definitely NOT a finger food kind of dish, so you surprised me with that at first! Also any leftover gravy goes well with other foods, such as potatoes or steamed broccoli.
As someone who's grown up with biscuits, you did a great job. But yeah always make a larger batch of biscuits. Never just 6.
This looks great. It is ideal to have the biscuits touch, though. Another thing to suggest with biscuits is honey. Growing up, something I always loved for breakfast was biscuits and honey. It also works as a dessert.
Southern Kentucky boy here that loves to make biscuits and gravy… good job on your first try! Biscuits and gravy is the love language of the South. We need to get you a cast iron skillet. 😁 If you make it to America, we to find you a Southern Mamaw to cook with and learn from.
This was such an enjoyable video! You did a fantastic job! I was born in Tennessee and spent my childhood there. This was always one of my most favorite meals! If you like tomatoes, you need to cut up some tomatoes to add on top of the gravy. It's delicious! 😋 Merry Christmas to you & your family! 🎄
I had such a blast watching you. Now try the biscuits with a jam/jelly/ fruit spread of choice. Also try it with some honey and butter. (often blended together). FOr the sausage or country gravy start the sausage in a cold pan on low heat to help render the fat out.
Great job and thank you for the laughs.
#9 I am loving these cooking videos. You are doing such a good job and I hope you are finding some new foods to share with your family and friends.
Biscuits aren't easy when you're first learning to make them. They are easy in theory and hard in execution, and making great biscuits is truly an art. For the first time you ever made biscuits, those looked really good. Pro tip: Flour your cutter before you start!!
Great job on the gravy! I literally just taught my 15 year old son to make sausage gravy tonight.

My Grandma in Kentucky taught me to make biscuits and gravy when I was about 10. By twelve I was teaching my younger brothers (3) as they aged to make it. We love it with eggs over easy. Corn mush or grits and a glass of cold milk. #9 I I've watched your deviled eggs, Mac & cheese, now biscuits and gravy. I think it's the only way to learn! Proud of you!! Dip your glass in flour so the dough doesn't stick. Also the less you work the dough the fluffier the biscuits are. To much working dough can make them tough and flat. When you make your gravy put a nice pat of that butter in the pan with your fried sausage. And I like lots of pepper and not much salt because the sausage usually has salt in it.
Crack that biscuit open before you pour that grave over it! Let it soak into the crevices of the biscuits! 🤣
Fantastic!!! When you had to immediately butter and try a biscuit I knew you were like all of us… biscuits aren't always easy…then the sausage gravy…You did perfectly 😊 so fun to see you enjoy it all…Thank you
I think you did awesome especially for your first time! I put hot sauce in my gravy just a bit. And if you mix the biscuits with a fork and keep the heat of your hands off the dough you can just drop dough on the sheet in six blobs it's called drop biscuits super quick and easy for people on the go.😊
You can make buttermilk at home by using heavy cream to make butter, the liquid that separates from the butter is buttermilk 🙂
eating the biscuit with the raw sausage on your hands. gutsy

I get the feeling the sausage you used flavored the gravy a bit different than what we use in the American south.
Yeah well perhaps there but here we use vinegar to make imitation buttermilk keep trying watched you several time make a Da AmericaN slang langu
Have fun with it
Your elation was perfect 😂💖
Stop doubting yourself. Go with it but stop over mixing anything with flour in it. Unless you're making bread. Love Ya.
Those look way better than my biscuits. I started just buying the dough in a tube.
9. You are so much fun to watch
Great job! First time watching your videos and thought you did great
Teach us some of your easy recipes too❤️
You say you're a crazy Portuguese guy like its a bad thing… embrace the crazy. Apparently, we Americans vote yes for it.🤪 Your biscuits look fine to me.
9. you're doing amazing
The first time I made biscuits, I had the exact same experience as you! Other than the dough being a little overworked, it came out just fine. Now days, I put a light coating of cooking oil on my hands before working the dough.
For the gravy, I put the milk and flour in a liter size jar with a lid and shake it thoroughly. Then I crumble the sausage into a hot skillet, turn down the heat to half and brown the meat. As soon as it's browned, I pour in the milk and flour mixture and stir the pan constantly until it thickens – easily done!
