There was a lot of buzz about this restaurant and I really wanted to see what it was all about. At first I was skeptical because of how “tiktokified” the tuna tostada was, but oh my that tostada I think is one of the best appetizers in all of Chicago. I also learned that this is owned by the same group behind Taqueria Chingon and Le Bouchon if I did my research correctly. Anyway, we went for brunch and it was so good that we went for dinner the very next day.
For brunch we ordered:
Tuna Tostada
California Burrito
Andrew’s Plaintain Taco
Baja Fish Taco
Fried Oyster Taco
Oyster Natural
Cactel
Pozole Verde
I have ate at many omakase around the world, this was one of the freshest tunas i have ever put in my mouth. DEFINITELY in my top 5 list of appetizers in the city. The creativity of that tostada is out of this world. This was my second favorite thing we ordered. The oysters are super fresh as well and paired great with the passion fruit mignonette. Cactel, Baja Fish taco, and oyster taco were great as well, but the plantain taco was AMAZING. Definitely the tastiest plantain I have had and it was accompanied by the most perfect sauce and topping (I forgot what it was). However my favorite dish of the brunch was the Red Snapper Pozole Verde topped with crispy fish skin. It was just so perfect and the fish was lovely. After eating at their brunch, we immediately decided we would come back for dinner the next day
Disclaimer! Pictures are not in order, sorry!
For dinner we ordered:
Tuna Tostada
Apple and Squash Salad
Baja Fish and Plantain Tacos
Red Snapper Ceviche
Chipotle Mussels
Sablefish
Sardine Tostada
Flan
Dinner was even better! Everything we had was good. The mussels were so soft, tender, and Smokey. That broth was something else man. I’d skip salad next time even though it was great. The red snapper ceviche was my 2nd favorite dish of the night, that coconut broth and the snapper with its mix in’s were insane! Sardine tostada was great, the sardines are huge and I loved that pistachio mole. But my favorite dish of the night was the sablefish. That fish was so tender and the sauces they had on that plate were out of this world.
My favorite food in the world is seafood, and I love Latin/Mexican ingredients so this restaraunt for me is one of my favorites in the city. Already excited to go back and can’t wait to try the whole red snapper. I loved this place!
