FOUGASSE | HOW TO MAKE FOUGASSE | EASY RECIPE OF FOUGASSE ❤️
WELCOME TO SWEEET LAND 2022 !
TODAYS BREAD TYPE IS A FRENCH STYLE FLATBREAD WHICH IS CALLED ‘FOUGASSE’. THIS BREAD IS A FLAT CHEWY AND CRNCHY. IT IS A TREE SHAPED BREAD.
SO LETS START MAKING FOUGASSE…
FOUGASSE RECIPE 👇👇
INGREDIENTS :
REFINED FLOUR 200 GM
SUGAR 3-4 GM
SALT AS PER TASTE
INSTANT YEAST 4 GM
WATER 90-100 GM
OIL 4 GM
HERBS 1/4 TSP
OREGANO 1/4 TSP
FINE SEMOLINA FOR DUSTING
METHOD :
IN A BOWL TAKE SIFTED REFINED FLOUR THEN ADD SALT, SUGAR AND MIX IT.
THEN ADD INSTANT YEAST & MIX IT IN A FLOUR WELL.
THEN ADD HERBS & OREGANO AND MIX IT.
NOW IN A BOWL TAKE HALF OF THE GIVEN WATER AND ADD OIL AND MIX IT.
POUR THIS WATER OIL MIXTURE ON A FLOUR AND START KNEADING.
MAKE A STICKY DOUGH.
TAKE THE DOUGH ON A WORKING TOP AND KNEAD THE DOUGH.
KNEAD THE FOR AT LEAST10-12 MINUTES UNTIL ITS SOFT AND PLIABLE.IF YOU NEED WATER ADD AS PER REQUIREMENT.
MAKE A SOFT DOUGH UNTIL WINDOW PANE TEST.
ONCE THE DOUGH IS READY GIVE A ROUND SHAPE AND KEEP IT IN A GREASED MOULD AND COVER IT WITH DAMP CLOTH.
APPLY OIL ON A DOUGH SO IT WILL NOT GET DRY.
LET IT RISE FOR AN HOUR UNTIL ITS DOUBLE IN SIZE.
AFTER ONE HOUR ITS ALMOST DOUBLE IN A SIZE.
NOW INVERT THE BOWL ON A DUSTED WORKING TOP.
PUNCH OUT THE DOUGH.
GATHER THE DOUGH TOGETHER AND GIVE ROUND SHAPE.
NOW MIX THE SEMOLINA AND REFINED FLOUR AND DUST ON A WORKING TOP.
NOW TAKE THE DOUGH AND SPREAD IT WITH HAND.
SPREAD IT AND GIVE A LEAF SHAPE TO IT.
NOW KEEP THE DOUGH ON A BAKING MAT OR IN A TRAY. (IF USING TRAY GREAS WITH BUTTER AND DUST FLOUR)
WE DUST SEMOLINA BECAUSE IT GIVES NICE CRUST TO FOUGASSE.
NOW GIVE 2 CUTS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DOUGH AND 6 CUTS ON BOTH THE SIDES.
NOW STRETCH THE DOUGH TO OPEN THE CUTS OR WITH FINGERS MAKE SPACE IN A CUTS.
NOW GIVE CUTS ON THE EDGES.
PINCH THE EDGES TOGETHER AND TRY TO GIVE SHAPE.
NOW OUR CUTS ARE DONE.
GIVE A MILK WASH OR YOU CAN USE OLIVE OIL TO GIVE WASH.
NOW SPRINKLE HERNS / OREGANO AND SEMOLINA.
NOW REST IT AT ROOM TEMPERATURE FOR 30-40 MINUTES.
NOW PUT THE TRAY IN A PRE HEATED OVEN AND BAKE IT UNTIL NICE GOLDEN AND BROWN.
BAKE IT @180*C.
ONCE ITS BAKED TAKE IT OUT FROM THE OVEN.
BRUSH BUTTER ON FOUGASSE.
THIS PROCESS WILL GIVE A NICE SOFT CHEWY TEXTURE TO THE FOUGASSE.
YOUR HOMEMADE FOUGASSE IS READY TO EAT !
