


Typical recipe:
*Diced beef steak
*Root veg of your choice – here we have potatoes, sweet potato, swede, carrot, parsnip.
*Aromatics – onion and celery
*Extra things laying around – red lentils, savoy cabbage, mushrooms
Steam the aromatics, brown off the meat together. Add red wine to deglaze, bit of stock. Add to the slow cooker and fill up to the top with more stock once all the veg is in. You can roast the root veg if you like. Add rosemary.
Come back 8 hours later, divide up into microwaveable pots (we use old butter pots).
When it comes to serving, put the defrosted/partially frozen meal into a pot and fill with half a litre of stock. Gas mark 6 for 10 minutes. Now add gravy granules, a good stir. Itβll thicken in the oven. Add dumplings (50g suet, 100g self raising flour, salt, splash of water). Cook for half an hour, then remove lid and cook for another 15/20 minutes until the dumplings are crusty.
We have it all year-round, but itβs especially wonderful this time of year.
