Recipe for a full crockpot:
1 gallon whole milk
2 (14 oz) cans sweetened condensed milk
24 oz semisweet chocolate (I like to use Ghirardelli, you can also use chocolate bars)
3.5 cups heavy cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
Steps:
- Pour all of the ingredients listed above into the crockpot
- Cook on high 2-3 hours, make sure to stir occasionally
- Switch to warm when it’s combined
I personally decided to add two tablespoons of cocoa powder. I first mixed the cocoa powder with some of the hot chocolate in a small ramekin then pour it into the crockpot to prevent any clumping.
And of course, serve with any of your favorite toppings 🙂 not pictured is the whipped cream!

Yum! Are those toasted marshmallows on the bottom left?
That sounds tasty
Amazing! I’ve actually been planning a very elaborate hot chocolate bar for the family Christmas party this year. Last year, the single crockpot batch was a hit.
I’m also making some hot buttered rum that people can add to their hot chocolate if they want along with other candy cane fixings/artisan marshmallows.
Oh hell yeah
It looks yummy!
It looks sooo chocolatey too 😩❤️
Oops sorry, not sure why the ingredients are listed like that!
1 gallon whole milk
2 (14oz) cans of sweetened condensed milk
24oz semi sweet chocolate chips (Ghirardelli, and you can also use chocolate bars)
3.5 cups heavy cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
I decided to add 2 tablespoons of Guittard cocoa powder as well for a more richer taste 🙂 make sure to mix it first with some of the hot cocoa then add it to the crockpot to avoid clumping!
I need to know if this is the same kitchen I saw on TikTok today where the husband used three stockpots and everything else they owned to make hot chocolate
I’ve never even considered the existence of slow-cooked hot cocoa, my mind is blown!
I thought the toasted marshmallows were kings Hawaiian rolls! 🤤
diabee-tus recipe
Ahh, my grandma makes this for special occasions, she got the recipe from a very old cookbook, from like the 1950s..
I’d park myself next to that thing with a big straw. 🤣
Definitely saving this for a future event
I’ve saved this recipe. It looks awesome and I will be making it myself soon. Thank you!
Thank you for posting this!! I’m planning a hot chocolate bar for Christmas and this is great inspo!
