**Notes:** light gold color; haunting nose of pineapple, orange zest, apricot, and honey; full bodied, sweet like syrup, and yet approachable thanks to high acidity; finish lasts forever and makes you want more; they say that the beauty of quality Sauternes is that it’s good at any age, and this is stunning already; I rate based on value and this retails for a whopping $200+ USD for a half bottle… it really is *that* good if it’s in your budget — 4.8 out of 5

I agree on all the notes but one fruit everyone doesn’t pickup is the jackfruit. There is a hint of jackfruit on this on all the vintages we I have tasted. When we did our wine tasting in Sauternes FR, the wine steward who entertained us doesn’t know what a jackfruit is, she was surprised. This dessert wine is the best I have tasted, it blows other dessert wines away in the finish.

I historically didn’t really understand the rationale for the sheer amount of d’Yquem references nor it’s quite mythical reputation in the wine community.
Then I had it for the first time and all of a sudden the crown tattoo on the inside of my lower lip started to seem like a great idea.
Each time I am fortunate to have this inevitably becomes one of my most treasured wine memories. It is legitimately that good and unique.

I visited the Chateau over the summer, did the tour and tasting. Had never tasted a Sauternes and had only made the visit because a tasting spot opened up and it came recommended by fellow wine drinkers. I sat back in my seat and said “wtf?”in the best way possible. Completely changed my perception on what sweet wines could be. Went home with some great memories and a bottle of the 2017.

Well thanks. Spent the last hour reading about this wine instead of working. So not only do I need to play catch-up, but now I’m going to have to buy a bottle.
