[i ate] 1/2 pastrami Reuben, matzoh ball soup, and pickles from Katz’s Deli in New York
I’ve only had S&P (Eisenberg) and now Katz’s. Liked Katz pastrami better but Eisenberg’s sandwich better as a whole.

In 2006 I walked into Katz’s with my time stamped ticket, gasped at the menu prices, took 2 minutes to regain my breath and sanity, then left just in time to avoid the fee of staying too long and not ordering.
I’m sure the food is good, but those prices in 2006 were insane then. I can’t imagine what they are now.
What that tray cost you $40?

The sammy is amazing but calling it a pastrami Ruben feels wrong. Its a Rachel! Rubens use Corned Beef

Small world, went to NYC with my gf yesterday and tried S&P for the first time even though I’ve been in NYC plenty.
Was obsessed. I’d agree with your entire take. I didn’t have the matzah ball soup at Katz’s though and tried more stuff at S&P (including first time trying latkes, unreal) so maybe that’s why I liked it better.
Also I just don’t personally enjoy the ordering system at Katz’s

Looks delicious! Never tried the soup but would love to
What’s with your username though 🧐😂

As a Jewish New Yorker, this looks like absolute garbage. Even Lipton’s does it better.

I ordered their Reuben kits for my best friend and dad for their birthdays a few years ago and they loved them — might need to get one for myself! Looks amazing

That’s the appropriate amount of pickles.

I love their food! I go every time I am in NY.

Katz is still the best sandwich I’ve ever had nearly 10 years later.

And it only cost you 76 dollars…

How’s the Reuben, I always get the corned beef?

There’s a morning show radio host here in St. Louis that’s from NYC originally. He HATES the vast majority of NYC touristy spots but will always say that Katz’s is worth it. He would go even as a native and wait in line. He orders frozen packages from there once or twice a year.
That shit looks amazing, and I am thoroughly jelly that I didn’t get a bite or that fire ass looking Reuben

Katz was dry as fuck when I had it. Hugely disappointing. Had to act like it was good when the guy at the counter gave me a slice to try lol

Didn’t know you could order 1/2 a sandwich. Would be way cheaper and I can eat a whole one anyways.

Spending some time in Brooklyn in April/May and the locals sent me to 2nd Ave Deli (ironically on 1st Ave) in Manhattan- their matzo ball soup and latkas were fantastic even with the sticker shock (order of soup and 3 orders of latkas was $96) –
slpgh
Haven’t been there in years, but imo good Reubens are not hard to come by and kosher meat can sometimes be drier than non-kosher meat.

How was the motzoh ball?
DiMaRi13
Never heard of that soup, what does it taste like? What is the ball made of?
