I know… I know. I didn’t pay for this, but I’ll admit I was excited to try it when a friend decided to order it.
It’s a blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, and 10% Meunier. It’s non-vintage with reserve wine going back to the great 2012 vintage and spent 3 years aging on its lees. Dosage is 9 g/L, which is Brut but on the higher end for wine at this price point.
**Notes:** medium gold color, with fine, focused, and intense bubbles; citrusy nose with noticeable autolytic character; indulgent, creamy palate with nice acidity; medium+ length, nutty finish; not gonna lie — this was better than I expected and it’s serious wine; that said, the $250-300 USD retail price is absurd and if tasted blind, I’d guess this to be a relatively young vintage sparkler in the ~$100-120 range; 3.9 out of 5 based on value

Thanks for the review, I’ve always wondered about it – but I don’t want to spend my own money on it 😂😂😂

I found this hilariously underwhelming when I got to try it, but since you didn’t pay for it champagne is champagne is champagne.

I had 2013 Dom, and it reminded me of this wine. Dom was maybe more lemony, but both are equally electrifying.

Did they let you keep the bottle?

Damn, Jay-Z really did ditch the Cristal link and do this. I guess it’s been profitable. It’s an interesting story.

It is good champagne blinged up and priced like a killer champagne. Great marketing to drive a huge margin, but way overpriced.

$250 for a mid NV is always silly to me. Especially with how many actually decent NVs there are for sub-$100.

An expensive Champagne for those that don’t know what an expensive Champagne can be.

Larmandier Bernier Terre du Levant at 1g/L for $175-$200 is a far superior Champagne than this Maquillage disaster. But like one redditor said Champagne is Champagne is Champagne and if I’m not buying I’m drinking
