Hasn’t been used in almost a year, I scraped and vacuumed it out in the summer, was planning on fully cleaning it and keeping it in the garage but there was no room for it inside. I live in the PNW and it’s had a cover on it. I feel like it could be worse? Idk man. I need to be told what to do in order to save this baby if I can. The drip pans rusty color is throwing me off. The mold can be blasted with heat? HELP PLEASE 😂😂😂😂

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!

If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!

    *What seasoning did you use?

*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?

*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?

    Traeger on!

No judgment here! Scrub down with degreaser but you’ll want to turn it on to 500 and burn everything off first and then hit it with degreaser! You should be good to go after that!

Step one, take it apart and get down to the fire bowl. Shop vac that clean. Step two, fill with pellets and turn on, see if it feeds into the bowl and ignites. Step 3 will be either replace the auger motor and fire rod, or if it runs, get it up to max temp for a good hour to kill everything inside of it. Then get some citrus grill cleaner and get to work once it’s cooled down.

My first pellet grill was in similar shape when I wound up upgrading and it still made bomb food. Idk how the drip pan got so rusty though, that’s a new one.

Edit: nvm didn’t see that was mold and not just grease. def needs some clean up.

Consider putting some LavaLock tape around the door seal, on my second restoration right now. Really helps keep the heat in. This is the way.

I judge the previous owner as nasty.

This is pretty mild compared to some of the shit people post on here and are confused when people tell them to clean it.

In fact, I’m pretty sure most of those people would just fire this thing up and cook without a second thought.

Loosen the hinges, adjust the lid, tighten the hinges.

I would definitely power cycle it to see if it’s gonna fire up, but after that, I would do as some of the others headset and strip it down to the fire pit and shop vac that all out clean everything good and go through a cleaning with it and see if the auger will feed pellets. Other than that, you can always get replacement drill grates. Maybe wire brush down some things on the outside if needed if it doesn’t come off and hit it with some high temp black manifold paint found at your local automotive store. If needed.

I have the same model and my lid warped like that after a few cooks. I just grab a rope now and tighten it shut because every other fix I’ve done it warps more.
