If anyone knows why my frosting always creates a dome, please let me know. I level my cakes and flip them so the smooth side is up. I smoothed out the frosting so much that the cake underneath began to show, but still, the top domes.
Anyways, I kinda loved this one. Wasn't exactly what I envisioned but it was fun to experiment.

It looks lovely! The dome shape might be because of uneven frosting on top. Adding more frosting in the center can look fine from above, but it shows up when you look at the side. A simple trick I use to check if the frosting is even is to look at the cake at eye level—either lift it up or bend down to check from the side. You can also use the edge of a scale 📏 to make it easier.
