LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – A Laredo non-profit is ready to bring holiday cheer with its annual Christmas Food Drive.
The Laredo Organization Volunteers for the Elderly and Disadvantaged (LOVED) will hold the event on Saturday at 11 a.m. at 1115 Chihuahua Street. Participants are asked to stay in their cars while volunteers place food bags in their trunks.
Each bag will include basic items like beans, rice, and some meat. Small toys will also be given to young children.
“Tomorrow at 11 o’clock, we hope they line up and start picking up their bags,” said Dr. Henry Carranza, chairman of LOVED. “We do have some toys for the little kids—I mean little, not the big ones.”
For 40 years, the Christmas Food Drive has been a tradition in Laredo, helping those in need and spreading the joy of the season.
