I recognize most of these are poor choices. Looking for recommendations on some possible choices for regular drink options. This is my only option within 45 minutes to an hour’s drive. Located in a small town in Tennessee, USA.

You might be better off ordering online if this is your only option locally, this is a truly unfortunate offering

Wooof. I thought my local stores had poor selection.

Probably the Husch but I’d just buy online.

Stoller Pinot is the only one worth spending money for.

That’s the fancy stuff! Point me to the Boone’s Farm please and thanks

Those two Chiantis are maybe worth a try. Also the Petit Chablis from Louis Moreau looks good although it is quiet pricy…

I need to try that XXL Pineapple that is 16%! Sounds like terrible wine, but my curiosity is piqued!

The Decoy (first pic, top shelf) & CA Locations (third pic) are decent reds. The Locations wines are part of the Orin Swift line. The Hampton Water Rosé is also good but I only drink rosé during spring/summer, fun fact it’s owned by Bon Jovi..;) Otherwise I’d order online, find some wine shops that occasionally offer free shipping or have a decent shipping fee

  8. One of the worst selections I have ever seen. Yikes.

Caveat: I’m cheap and have very little wine experience.

That said I have tried several of these wines, most are terrible but **Coppola** and **Josh** are good options.

Worth storing for years and talking about? Nope. But for a dinner wine I enjoy them. The main issue is that for $20 bottles they taste like a good $10-15 bottle. Allegedly Coppola supplies some of Costco’s Kirkland which is a favorite for cheap wine.

If you had a real selection you could get better wines for cheaper (Bogle, Noble Vines).

But given the options Josh or Coppola will do if you can’t buy online.

  10. Looks like every wine/liquor/grocery store where I live. 😭 Edit: read your comment. I just moved to Tennessee. No wonder.

Husch, Decoy, Josh, or Ruffino would work

Edit: any doc / docg chanti would be just fine too

I spy a Decoy on the top shelf! That’s consistently good. Source: I’m a Duckhorn wine club member.

Chateau Ste. Michelle is about the only thing I would get there. Maybe Decoy.

Do they have any Herb Ertlingers fruit wine amongst those other fruit wines?

Layer cake isn’t terrible, quite a far cry from what it used to be, but can’t be helped that it’s corporate now. Coppola isn’t bad; I have an enjoyed their claret for what it is, and at the right price.

    Stoller. Top left pic 4

Kim Crawford isn’t great but it is a pretty typical drinkable new zealand sav blanc

Also a whole 19 crimes section is hilarious

  17. This screams liquor store owner applying liquor customer buying habits to wine. And they are wildly different. Also a distributor(s) are probably having some level of cold war fighting in that set.

  18. skalpelis

The handful of Italian and NZ options might be palatable

Also, isn’t Coppola more or less ok?

  19. I have never in my life or career seen Woodbridge, lindemans, or verdi on the top shelf unless it was in a section all by its self away from anyone with taste. What kind of, I hope grocery store?, are you shopping at? If that’s an actual liquor store I believe you’re within your rights to tar and feather the owner.

  20. capt_capitalism

    Jesus Christ.
I think at this point you need to just lean into it and slap the bag with some Franzia or get some MD20/20

Only option is the wildly out of place Louis Moreau petit Chablis just make sure they
    Keep it in stock.
