Is this a typo? 170 mg of cholesterol in four of Nespresso’s bite-size cookies according to nutritional facts?!

For reference I got these for free as part of the 5-sleeve deal this week. Notably I am on a low-cholesterol diet and ate one of these before seeing this. I just can’t fathom how a serving of these has 44% more cholesterol than an entire strip steak – or 226% more than pure butter by weight.

  2. Sure. Probably mostly from the egg, but the butter doesn’t help. 1 egg yolk = 186mg

Butter is the second ingredient… So yes

Edited: Strip Loin has been trimmed of fat when it is butchered with the intention of reducing the fat.

  4. Reminder that eating cholesterol doesn’t mean it’s bad for your bad cholesterol levels. There’s good cholesterol too

Natural sources like butter and eggs are good for you and the daily recommended value of cholesterol is not based on good health science IMO

1tbsp pure butter= 12g fat, 7g sat fat, and 31mg cholesterol. So, maybe? I doubt there’s enough egg to make up the difference?

Assuming the size of the 14 cookies, it is probably around 1.25stick of butter. That amount of butter has 10Tbs x 31mg per Tbs/ divided by 3 for serving size of 4 cookies= 103mg lets assume it has 1 egg the yolk= 186mg / divided by 3 for serving size of 4= 62. 62+103=165

    Sounds about right.

They appear to be like shortbread. Seems to check

That has to be a typo. It’s the exact same number as the calories (suspicious). And if you look up nutritional info on other shortbread cookies, this is way more than they have (3x to 5x more).

Of course, the “eat cholesterol, then cholesterol in your blood goes up” myth has long since been busted. So this is entirely irrelevant.

Be more bothered about the sugar than cholesterol. Plus it doesn’t say which type of cholesterol it is. Your body needs good cholesterol by way.

The body regulates cholesterol production, and blood cholesterol levels are mainly determined by the amount of carbohydrates and fats in your diet.

However, some people are “hyperresponders” and their cholesterol levels rise and fall in response to the amount of cholesterol they eat.
