Just purchased the Pro 575. Temps are ridiculously off. By 20-30 degrees. Read that others will have the same issueband Traeger really does not care. They are told to not use a third part thermometer or thermocouple. That's nonsense. I am a E&I technician and calibrate Temps controller very regularly. This controller and most others that own these are way out of calibration. I borrowed a temp controller and thermocouple from work, calibrated it with my Fluke 725 so it was dead on the money. Got home and sure enough set the Traeger to 225 and was at 193.. Traeger can not deny my calibration as my calibration equipment is calibrate by Transcat. So my search continued to find a way to fix this with getting real invasive with this controller. I cam across a video of someone putting a tin metal guard over the thermocouple. So I fashioned a gaurd and that is working. Grill is set to 225 and my temp controller from work is within a few degrees. I like the grill but for the price of this thing they need to do better at engineering this. This simple fix should be applied going forward on all grills they make.

used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!
*What seasoning did you use?
*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?
*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?
Traeger on!

Lmao contract traeger and offer to fix their problem for a considerable payraise
I have a 780 pro with the same issue ,is that copper you are using for the shield .
Newsflash, Traegers aren’t all they’re cracked up to be at the lower price points.
Do it on a cheaper brand then or even your indoor oven to compare. I don’t understand the precision fascination… it’s bbq.
Someone could have a business if they find a way to sell an aftermarket temp probe that are more accurate and easy to install
