SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracuse is preparing to provide a traditional Christmas meal to over 2,900 individuals in the greater Syracuse community on December 25.
The organization will serve a festive, midday meal to approximately 300 guests at their Food Services Center in Syracuse. Additionally, around 2,500 meals will be delivered to individuals across Onondaga County who had previously pre-ordered meals. This incredible effort will be made possible by the dedication of more than 100 volunteers, who will help with serving and delivering meals.
The Christmas meal will feature a delicious spread of turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, mixed vegetables, dinner rolls, and pie. In preparation for the event, the Rescue Mission’s Food Services team has been preparing for months to ensure they can meet the needs of the community during the holiday season. The team has worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone in the community has access to nourishing meals, especially during the holidays.
This Christmas meal is especially meaningful for those staying at the Rescue Mission’s emergency shelter. In addition to the festive meal, each shelter guest will receive hygiene products and slippers, offering a bit of comfort during the holiday season. Clients living in the Rescue Mission’s supportive housing programs will also receive small gifts, designed to brighten their holiday, and provide a sense of care and warmth.
