Two rather young bottles for dinner the other night.
Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne 2019:
Lemon crème bomb from Louis Latour. Intense citrus, oak, and butter on the nose. Incredibly round mouthfeel. A lot of oak on the palate as well, and an almost pastry-like level of lemon crème and ripe apple. Really bright acidity, as expected from the age.
Biondi-Santi Rosso Di Montalcino 2019:
Surprisingly complex for being a “little brother” of the Brunello bottling. The highlight of the bottle was the acidity. Screaming with intensity, yet linear and defined. Nose of ripe red fruit and a touch of barnyard funk. Palate also has a rustic moss characteristic that was unexpected. A lot to unpack and really fun to drink. I think both bottles would be incredible in 10 years.
