OLD TOWN, Fla. (WCJB) – Papa Luigi’s has been a staple for Old-Town residents for over 40 years, and this Christmas Eve, they continued their tradition of giving back to the community.
For decades, Old-Town pizzeria Papa Luigi’s hosted a Christmas dinner pickup for families, offering a festive meal with all the holiday favorites like chicken, turkey, sweet potatoes, and mashed potatoes.
There was a special addition to the dinner this year – Santa Claus taking his own dinner break. The jolly old man made a surprise appearance, handing out presents to all the children who came by.
“I have been here with him for the last several years spreading Christmas cheer. Mr Luigi is a fantastic person, he helps the community out here, and I am going to give him a great present tomorrow,” added Santa.
Dylan Walker is an employee at Papa Luigi’s. This is his third year helping, and he is glad to see the children and, more importantly, their smiles.
“It’s awesome because a lot of them sometimes don’t get this opportunity to get presents and things like that, so it’s nice to see the smiles and the joy,” said Walker.
Tomorrow is Christmas, and Santa is getting ready to continue traveling around the world. He wanted to leave this message for the children.
“I see them in the daytime I see them at night. I can tell when they have been good or bad so they need to be good so that way when Christmas comes along I will visit them and leave them lots of presents,” added Santa.
This Christmas Eve event not only provided families with a delicious meal but also gave a chance for the community to come together, to celebrate not only the holidays but each other.
