at least u know how to fucking prepare rice.

not many people can say this and they end up with rice soup instead.

You were only a stick of butter away from a delicious meal 😞 (ketchup would be skipped, obviously)

  3. Needs protein; you should set a reindeer trap on the roof! Seriously tho, sorry this is all you have. At least you have something to eat and a pantry to keep it in. I hope the new year is good you!

I chose to work in a low paying field (cook) so I have had my fair share of struggle meals. Rice, eggs, oil/butter, salt or soy and some tomato sauce/katchup can make a really good fried rice that can last a few days for very low budget. If you don’t have a lot of money the best thing you can do is learning to cook.

This ain’t bad. I’ve been there. For next time tho if you have an egg or two, scramble them into the rice

  6. Bigger gas stations often have salt packets that are available. Ask the right Starbucks employee for a few pats of butter – the afternoon shifts are very unlikely management and aren’t too far off from where you are right now. Panera has mayo packets in their condiment stations as well which is a decent substitute. Taco Bell too, just tell them you went through the drive through and forgot to ask for sauces.

Damn bro I’m so sorry. There may be some places near you offering free meals today. A lot of organizations offer free meals on Christmas eve. You should really look into it. This makes me so sad 😞.

My toddler eats this on purpose for lunch. He likes it when I sprinkle shredded cheese on it. I eat rice with sriracha. Looks good to me

Not even salt? Salt goes really well. I’ve dken rice, dollar store broth and salt and have been more than happy.

Do you live somewhere grub hub delivers? If so, send me your address, I’d like to send you a meal.

There are probably places near you, churches, shelters, Salvation Army, that serve Christmas dinner and have food pantries. Please Google your zip code or County and see what is available.

As long as nobody is shooting at you or bombing you you’re better off than millions – if not billions food wise. Consider the fact that you’ve probably got access to clean water you can drink and wash in – and you’ve got electricity too. Hell, you have internet access.

To be honest this is delicious, just mix it enough to balance the strong ketchup flavor

I felt this hard. On thanksgiving I didn’t have any food and thought to look into my bean containers. I scraoed half a cup of pintos out and maybe a third a cup of Lima beans out and I had to cook those two together with a little butter salt and pepper to eat that day! I got paid the day after thanksgiving luckily. It was pretty rough. I didn’t tell anyone I was too embarrassed and I didn’t really know people anyhow. It’s hard to get to food banks without a car. So I just make due when I have to. It could have been worse! Lima and pinto beans alone with butter ain’t that fantastic😆 I’d rather have what you made. On another note, I hope you do have a Merry Christmas tomorrow and know that I’m thankful for you and also have a happy New Year!

  17. It’s Christmas Eve. I’m single. I made my mom’s pierogi as we have had all of my 54 years. There is a candle in the window and an extra setting at the table.

I know you can’t make it here, but it is a long held belief that doing these things is an important part of the holiday so in case a stranger knocks on your door you can feed them. I am touched by the virtual version of this on the thread with people offering to help.

This sub may be absolutely vicious about food, but y’all are genuinely good people when it matters. And OP? I’ve had a bag of off-brand chips in my car for Christmas. I know where you are.

Better and so much tastier than eating a roasted, stuffed turkey on the day, believe me…
